Sore'ness

Yes. I said sore'ness.

I was invited by my friend to go to Tahoe for the weekend while her hubby was taking care of his parents. We left Friday night after work around 6:30 and made it there in a little over 5 hours. Her in-laws live about 45 min from Sierra Tahoe and we wanted to go on Saturday. But the weather was pretty bad, and I didn't want to get blown off a lift with 110mph winds. So we went to the store to get stuff for dinner, and then we (which included me, my friend, her mother in-law, her grandma in-law and her aunt in-laws husband) decided to go wine-tasting.

Always a good choice. =]

We managed to get back to the house about 4pm and my friend made an amazing dinner. (I helped her out, but I have very little cooking skills, so I was stuck with the manual labor.)

Her in-laws apparently wanted me to "meet" a certain someone so they had invited a couple more people to come over for dinner. Which was nice. =P After dinner we played dice for a while, and I placed 3rd (out of 11) which wasn't to bad considering I never played before.

Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous day. So, me and my friend hit the slopes. I like to laugh a bit when I say "hit" because it seems I did literally "hit" the mountain a bit. =P I'm still quite the beginner, so its ok. But this one little kid ran into me while I was resting on the side. The front tip edge of his board sliced into my calve. Whats weird is that I didn't even feel him hit me until he said "sorry". I was like "What? ... omg ... owww." Yea, it hurt, but I figured I better get back up and keep on boarding or else I would just feel worse.

All in all I had a few good runs, but I'm working on using my front edge more, so I tend to stay on the back. In fact thats when I really ate it... going down a nice straight way, I thought would be a great spot to switch, did ok for a while then BAM! I did a faceplant into the packed snow. My feet and board were in the air and everything. lol. I think I may have bruised my brain a bit cause my head still hurts, but, whatever.

And then we said our goodbyes and were back in the car headed home. My friends packed my mini-disc player in the trunk with my jacket, which was the only lame part of the trip, cuz I was cold and bored.

But the weekend was great. Got some new wine. Got to break in my board at Tahoe. And I got some new bruises.

And about that sore'ness thing?

Yea.

"It hurts so good. Neeneeneeneer - dewn dewn - baw dun dunnn!"
(That was me singing John Mellancamp...in case you were wondering.)

;)
